Hudson County Park Survey

Time to put in your 2-cents!

This is a great opportunity to voice your opinions to the county and let them know what kind of open space you want to see in Hudson County. Yes, this includes Hoboken. HSPC has heard from over a thousand people who want to see recreational and passive park space built in the southwest part of Hoboken as part of the SW6 plan. We’ve heard people ask for soccer fields, more swings, more water amenities, and then we’ve also heard from those who want more playgrounds, dog runs, and quiet gardens. Well, we know people have very strong opinions on what they believe a park should be and everyone should be heard.

This is your chance to tell the county planning board what you think:

The Hudson County Division of Planning and Open Space Advisory Board are pleased to announce the 2011 Open Space Survey. We welcome public input to guide the Reexamination of the County’s Open Space, Recreation, and Historic Preservation Plan. This survey should take approximately 5 minutes. Both surveys will remain open until July 1, 2011.

Results of Special City Council Meeting on June 28th 2006:

At Hoboken Southwest Parks Coalition’s insistence, the city council approved adding blocks 11, 12, 14, 24 into the park study. The council did not accept our resolution (see below) as a substitute for the mayor’s, however, we feel we had a small victory. We still have a long long way to go. Over the last three weeks SPC created a Steering Committee which has been meeting every week and strategizing for both council meetings and the long haul.

9 “yes” votes to amend the resolution (below) to include blocks 11,12,14, and 24 (blocks 9 & 10 already on the resolution).

9 “yes” votes for the Resolution Authorizing The City Administration to Conduct Preliminary Studies For the Acquisition of +4 Contiguous Acres of Property Located on Blocks 9 And 10 In The City of Hoboken For The Creation of A New Park And Open Space.

For your reference, this is property which is situated between Observer Hwy & Paterson Plank Road. Blocks 11 & 24 sit on the North side of Paterson Plank Rd.
